5 days until Christmas! Who else is excited?
I love the family gatherings, food, excitement, and lights on the neighbors house. Don't forget about the feeling of 'magic' in the air. It's the anticipation of being with those we love.
I have a few Christmas memories growing up that particularly stand out. One year, my grandmother had purchased so many presents for the family (we had close to 75 people together at their house on Christmas morning), we could hardly see the Christmas tree. I remember one year helping my aunt unwrap her Christmas presents while my grandparents were not home so she could get a sneak peak into Christmas morning.
Fast forward a few years to watching the excitement on my children's face as they opened their gifts and jammed out to their new keyboards and microphones. One year my children went on a scavenger hunt to find their presents.
Christmas, to me, is creating memories. We really don't need any presents. There is very little we cannot buy throughout the year. We are so blessed as a nation.
What memories have you created this year? New traditions started? Kindness given then cannot be repaid? As we celebrate Christmas this year, remember WHY we set this particular day aside. It isn't to open gifts. It is to celebrate the birth of a Savior, Jesus. Without Him, we are nothing.
